Case Study: Erwin

Katie sent us 6 shots of her dog Erwin and asked for some ideas about creating a piece of artwork from them. From talking to her it turned out that she really liked the bold colours and striking effect of Andy Warhol’s famous screen printed portraits. So she picked her favourite picture and we created a POP Art Canvas of Erwin.

“This is amazing! He looks great, and I really like the yellow outline…”

Artist's Insight

1. To create a really convincing Warhol style piece of Pop Art a clear, well lit, in focus original photo is a must.

1. Original Photo

2. It is then important to strip the image down, removing all background clutter, and colour, so that an authentic Warhol-look can be created.

2. Black and white with dots

3. The colour can then be built up to create the striking effect of the finished Pop Art canvas.
